Guide to SDNetting BeGone
Welcome to SDNetting! This is an interactive website that hosts the popular online FPS “BeGone” and its official forum community. When you first enter the website, you’ll be greeted with a slideshow of screenshots that showcase different maps in BeGone. You’ll also notice that on the top right hand corner, there is an option for signing up. Please click on it to proceed.
Tip: If you wish to experience the game first, you may click “Play Now” to try the game as a guest.
Our registration process is simple; you need to provide your email address, then enter a desired password, and finally give yourself a nickname. Keep in mind that your nickname cannot be changed once it has been set, so think of one wisely. After the blanks have been filled up, review our terms of service; and if you agree, check the box where it says “I have read and agree to the terms of service”; when you have completed the above, press Continue.
Tip: Choose a difficult yet memorable password to secure your account.
After registering, click Login. Use the same email you registered your account with, and the corresponding password to enter the website. If you are not the type to type your email address and password every time you visit SDNetting (which is hopefully often), you can check the box “Remember Me”.
Once logged in, you will be greeted with our user-friendly interface. From here, you may access different portions of SDNetting at a click. On the top left is the SDNetting banner, you can return to SDNetting startup page from anywhere with this button. Underneath are different links made for you to manage your account with ease.
“Play Now” is probably why you are here, but we will save the best for last. The second button says Forum, and it’ll lead you to the official SDNetting forums. The forums are divided into 2 sections, General and Off Topic. Unlike Off Topic, which only has one sub-forum, General houses 6 separate sub-forums, topics should be posted under their respective forum.
Tip: The rules of the SDNetting forum are located to the right, please read them over carefully and follow them.
Also on the Forum main page is the chat box, scroll down and you will see it. You can also quickly access the chat box by clicking “Chatrooms” on your bottom left corner, this quick toolbar can be displayed anywhere on the website. Besides the lobby, there are also private chatrooms, by password locking them; you can prevent unwanted people from budging in.
Tip: Keep in mind that private chat rooms aren’t permanent; however you can create them without limit.
If you wish to know about the latest and hottest topics, the section on the right of the Forum main page (under Rules) displays the most recent forum posts. Once you are inside a sub-forum, you’ll see a list of topics; “stickies” will be shown on top, followed by the topic with the most recent reply (or newest created). Stickies are excelling topics of significance that had been pinned in place by either a developer or moderator.
Another icon you may see next to forum threads is the lock, these are discussions that officials feel need to stop. You can still view a locked topic, but you cannot reply to it. You can start your own topic by clicking “Post New Topic” on the top left under Forums.
Authors are allowed to edit their post at any time, unless it is a locked topic. If you wish to move, delete, rename, or lock your topic; contact a moderator. A list of moderators are shown next to “Post New Topic”. Individuals not in the list claiming to be staff members are impersonators and should be reported with photographical evidence.
Moving on, under Members you can search up an individual player; if you do not know their full name, enter a part of their name as a wildcard. You may also limit down the searches by inserting their gender and age. You may further filter unwanted results by checking “Only Members with Photos”, and/or “Only Online Members”.
Tip: To directly search a member, you can type www.network.sdnetting.com/profile/(username) in the search bar.
The Clans tab will allow you to search and manage clans. You can also create your own clan, you’ll have various options that will gift or restrain certain powers from clan members, such as poll-making. You may also promote a member to an officer, and assign that user a specific title. Clans can be set on free to join or require manual approval from the owner (“Request Membership”). If you sort the list of clans by Most Popular, the biggest clans will be listed from top to bottom. You can be in multiple groups at the same time.
Tip: The largest clan does not mean it is the best clan; find a clan that suits your abilities.
The remaining two tabs are Events and Videos. You can join and create events; events will take place in specific servers at a designated time. However uninvited guests may also enter the server if they happen to stumble upon it by chance. You can upload and watch videos under the Videos tab; you may also rate videos that you find are interesting or disappointing. Videos can be from either YouTube or Vimeo. Please do not upload offensive content; you will be met with consequences if caught.
Back to the SDNetting front page, the most noticeable part might be the announcements, as updates and patches are released into the game, the developers will update the announcements as well to keep you up to date with the latest information. Underneath the announcements are your friend requests, they can be accepted or ignored. Accepting a friend will give you the privilege to private message them and see their profile if the privacy is set on friends.
Tip: You can access detailed previews inside the News & Previews sub-forum.
Your recent messages will be shown at the right side of the home page, you can access the full list of messages by clicking on “Messages” on the top right. Alongside Messages option are Updates, My Profile, Settings and Log Out. Updates will display a list of notifications like forum updates, friendship requests/approvals, clan membership updates, comments…etc. You can also clear the list by clicking “Mark All Read”. By going into My Profile, you’ll be able to see your in-game stats. By default it shows your monthly kills, but the chart can also display different information; for example All Time Accuracy, Total Multi-Kills, and much more. Under your status update is a lineup of your most recent pictures, to see earlier images, click on the rightmost image and press >.
Tip: Do not post nudity, suggestive or offensive content, it may result in an account ban.
If your profile visibility is set on public; other users will be able to see your previous updates, friends list, personal/contact information, number of forum posts, clan memberships, events and videos you have posted. Basic account information are listed under “Edit My Profile”, such as profile views, number of friends…etc. You may change your profile information and avatar by clicking on Edit My Profile.
Account settings can be accessed by pressing on “Settings” on the top right, your email address and time zone can be changed here. Privacy settings and notifications can also be altered; you may receive email notifications if you check a certain item under Notifications. If you feel your account is not safe, you can change your password as well. Lastly there is the option to delete your account if you do not need it anymore. Once you delete your account, the stats and information stored on there are lost forever. However your posts can still be seen with the name “Deleted User”.
Tip: We suggest regular password changes for heightened security. Account sharing is also against our terms of service.
The most exciting feature of the SDNetting site is unquestionably “Play Now”. You’ll need Unity Player to play the game; we’ll provide you with an option to install it if you haven’t already. In the BeGone menu, by going to My Profile, you’ll be able to choose between different clan tags. You can also change into your preferred games settings by clicking on Options. If you are experiencing fps lag, turning your graphics settings down will help increase your frame rate. Other essential options like mouse sensitivity and custom controls are also available here.
When you are all set, click “Play game” and embark on the epic BeGone experience!
Tip: Do not rage.
